CrossFit West Seattle: More Than Just Fitness—A Community That Transforms Lives
We are not just a gym and not just a fitness program—at CrossFit West Seattle, we are a vehicle for life change. Anyone who has been a part of our community for even a few months can testify to the unique environment fostered by our coaching staff and members alike.
For many, this gym is more than a place to work out—it’s their “third place” outside of work and home. It’s where people come to unwind, relieve stress, and show up as their authentic selves. No matter your background, age, race, religion, or beliefs—once you step into this space, you are an athlete, and we are all on the same journey together.
Expert Coaching, Thoughtfully Designed Programming
At CrossFit West Seattle, we take pride in our highly skilled coaching staff, who are passionate about helping athletes move better, train smarter, and reach their full potential. Our coaches bring years of experience, deep technical knowledge, and a genuine investment in your success—whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your training to the next level.
Our programming is not random—it’s deliberate, progressive, and designed for results. Every workout is built with intention, combining elements of strength, conditioning, mobility, and skill work to create a well-rounded and sustainable training experience. Our approach ensures constant progression, helping athletes break through plateaus, stay injury-free, and continue to challenge themselves in new ways.
A Family That Lifts Each Other Up
In this gym, we root for each other. We push through challenges together, we celebrate breakthroughs—both physical and mental, and we support each other inside and outside the gym. We may all look and act a little different, but we share the same commitment to growth, resilience, and community.
The impact of what we do here goes beyond fitness. The small ripple effect of nurturing happier, healthier, and stronger humans extends far beyond our four walls—into families, workplaces, and the world around us.
This is CrossFit West Seattle—where training is transformational, coaching is intentional, and community is everything.

Danielle balances a dynamic career as the Controller and Executive Director of a fire sprinkler service and repair company while also owning CrossFit West Seattle, a community she has poured her heart into since June 2014. To say she leads a full and busy life would be an understatement! Her unwavering passion for the CFWS community and team shines through every day, making the gym not just a place to work out, but a true home for everyone.
Her CrossFit journey began in 2010 when she was searching for something to bring her back to life. From the moment she stepped into a CrossFit gym, everything changed. Fitness became more than just a routine—it became a way of life. But Danielle’s love for movement doesn’t stop at CrossFit. She’s tackled marathons, half Ironmans, skiing adventures, and more, all while maintaining a deep commitment to helping others along their fitness journeys, both inside and outside the gym.
Danielle started coaching in 2011 and has never looked back. Whether she’s leading a class, getting in her own workout, or simply being part of the gym’s daily energy, you’ll often find her accompanied by her beloved pups—the official CrossFit West Seattle Puppy Coaches!
Gym Manager, CrossFit Level 1
Tim has been immersed in competitive swimming since the age of nine, becoming a multi-year Utah state high school champion before continuing his athletic career at Truman State University. His years in the pool fueled a passion for fitness and coaching, leading him to serve as Head Age Group Coach and General Manager of West Coast Aquatics for seven years. During his tenure, he played a key role in helping the organization earn recognition on ASCA’s Top 100 USA Age Group Programs, ranking 37th in the nation.
The skills Tim honed as both an athlete and coach have seamlessly translated into the CrossFit community. Since discovering CrossFit in 2023, he has embraced its training methodology, earning his CF-L1 certification the same year. Tim finds fulfillment in coaching individuals to become the best version of themselves, knowing that personal growth fosters a stronger, more positive community.
Outside the gym, Tim enjoys spending time outdoors with his partner, Gretchen, exploring art, and hanging out with their beloved dog and cat.

With a background in collegiate soccer, Sabrina has always thrived on pushing her body, competing, and embracing the challenge alongside others. However, after four years of intense training left her feeling burnt out, she took a step back from competition and pursued a 200-hour yoga certification. Through yoga, she learned the importance of acceptance, listening to her body, and slowing down—but it wasn’t long before she was craving a new challenge.
Her journey into CrossFit began when she had the opportunity to teach yoga at a local box, CrossFit West Ames. She took the leap—and quickly fell in love with the sport.
By day, Sabrina is an architect, and by night, you’ll find her fully immersed in the gym. She wholeheartedly believes in the “magic” of CrossFit—a transformation that extends beyond physical strength. To her, CrossFit is about pushing limits, stepping outside comfort zones, embracing challenges, and, most importantly, building a community that uplifts one another. Her passion lies in programming workouts that cultivate both fitness and mental toughness—and she’s always right there, suffering alongside the athletes she coaches.
Olympic Weightlifting Coach, CrossFit Level 1, USAW Level 1
For Brittany, fitness has always been a way of life. She started playing soccer at age seven and continued through her collegiate years, where staying active and embracing competition became second nature. Originally from upstate New York, she eventually made her way to Seattle, but her journey with CrossFit began back in 2013 while leading her city’s chapter of Team RWB. A local box generously hosted their group for a Hero WOD, and despite dying her way through Armistice, she was hooked. The combination of community, competition, and lifting heavy things had her sold—especially when she realized that lifting heavy makes her feel pretty badass!
As much as Brittany loves moving heavy shizzz herself, what truly fuels her passion is seeing others discover their own strength—that priceless moment when someone realizes they can lift more than they ever thought possible. Making the 2,600-mile move to Seattle was daunting, but she found friendship and community at CrossFit West Seattle. Now, as a coach, she hopes to create that same sense of belonging for others.
Outside the gym, Brittany works at UW (Go Dawgs!) as a victim advocate, supporting students impacted by interpersonal violence. Given the demands of her role, CrossFit provides the perfect outlet for balance and stress relief. In her downtime, she enjoys converting people into cat lovers with the help of her two feline ambassadors, Burt and Ernie, as well as wearing fancy hats, beach-combing, hiking, and soaking up everything the PNW has to offer.
Movement Systems Specialist, CrossFit Level 1
Denise Griffith is the owner of Revive Movement Physical Therapy & Performance, located inside CrossFit West Seattle. She is deeply passionate about helping people rediscover their love for movement, empowering them to move efficiently, heal properly, and build resilience against future injuries.
Denise earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Nutritional Sciences, from the University of Washington in 2016. She went on to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis in 2019. It was there that she trained in Movement System Impairments diagnosis and treatment, a specialized approach developed by Dr. Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PhD, FAPTA, and her colleagues. As a Movement System specialist, Denise utilizes movement analysis to assess patients and guide their treatment, ensuring they move efficiently to promote healing and prevent future injuries.
Her passion for weightlifting athletes led her to specialize in rehabilitating injuries and optimizing performance. She is also highly trained in pelvic health through the American Physical Therapy Association of Pelvic Health, helping individuals improve function and quality of life. In June 2022, Denise expanded her expertise by earning her CrossFit Level 1 Certification.
Outside the clinic, Denise stays active with CrossFit, barre, boxing, running, and snowboarding. She cherishes time spent near the water with her husband, friends, and family.

Owen is a CrossFit Level 1 coach who finds joy in fitness—not just for the physical benefits, but also for how it helps him manage stress, stay emotionally balanced, and connect with an incredible community. He thrives on the challenge of mastering new skills and continuously pushing himself to improve.
As a coach, Owen is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and creating a gym environment that fosters happiness, health, and growth. The gym has been a transformative space in his own life, and he hopes to pay that experience forward. Having learned from great coaches himself, he understands the value of guidance, encouragement, and relatability.
While he jokes about not being the world’s greatest CrossFit athlete, Owen believes it’s important for members to see themselves in their coach—to recognize that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and we’re all working toward something.
Outside the gym, Owen works as a healthcare consultant for Kaiser Permanente. He’s also a devoted dog dad, an amateur woodworker, and a self-proclaimed handyman around the house. And, of course, his favorite pastime? Peeing outside. As he famously declared in 2020:
“There is nothing greater in life.” – Coach Owen

Abby grew up swimming and distance running in Northeast Ohio, always drawn to endurance sports. After dabbling in triathlons, she found that something was missing—the sense of community she craved in her training. That all changed in 2015, when she discovered CrossFit. The camaraderie, accountability, and shared pursuit of growth quickly made it her home.
Her love for fitness and community led her to earn her CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2022, driven by a passion to help others find joy in movement—and, of course, to get sweaty with friends! Abby thrives on long, grinding workouts—give her “Murph” any day, and she’s happy!
Outside the gym, Abby and her husband share another fitness passion—cycling. You’ll often find her biking to work after coaching early morning classes. She also fully embraces the PNW lifestyle, spending her free time skiing, camping, and hiking whenever she gets the chance.

Before discovering CrossFit, I was solely focused on running. After completing my first marathon in 2012, I continued training for half marathons, always seeking new challenges. My introduction to CrossFit came after moving in with Owen, who had joined CrossFit West Seattle. Hearing about his experiences piqued my curiosity, and in early 2014, he invited me to a Sunday track WOD. I underestimated just how tough a burpee broad jump mile could be—but I loved the challenge, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
What I love most about CrossFit is the constantly varied movements and the endless opportunities to learn and improve. More than that, it has given me lifelong friendships and an incredibly supportive community. I hold a CrossFit Level 1 certification, which I recently renewed, and as a coach, my greatest joy comes from helping others develop new skills—a passion that aligns perfectly with my background as an educator.
Outside the gym, I am a mother, wife, and fifth-grade teacher. You’ll often find me walking through the neighborhood with Owen, Everett, and Grover, soaking in time with my family.

After earning his degree in criminal psychology, Coach Craig set out to travel the world—a journey that ultimately led him to CrossFit. While living in Queenstown, New Zealand, he took his first CrossFit class and was immediately hooked. His love for the sport only grew when he moved to Adelaide, Australia, where he trained at CrossFit Mode, owned by Games athlete James Newbury.
Before discovering CrossFit, Craig was a boxing and Muay Thai instructor in both Thailand and Australia. His passion for coaching comes from the pure joy he sees in people as they push through challenging workouts and grow stronger. Nothing is more rewarding to him than witnessing someone finally nail their first muscle-up, hit a PR, or have that “aha” moment when everything clicks.
Craig holds both his CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 certifications and, fun fact—he’s also an advanced scuba diver!
In his spare time, you’ll find Craig traveling, exploring abandoned places, and soaking up the SUP life out on Alki. He’s always hanging out with his stripey sidekick, Leo, and if he’s in charge of the gym playlist, you can count on hearing the dulcet tones of Justin Bieber.

Troy joined CrossFit West Seattle as a member in August 2020, emerging from quarantine with a need for social connection and a desire for something—anything—beyond running and home workouts. He wasted no time diving in headfirst, tackling “Kalsu” as his first-ever CrossFit class—and, shockingly, he came back for more! After two years of dedication (and countless WODs later), he earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification in June 2022.
Born and raised in Maui, Hawaii (…yes, he does surf and play the ukulele!), Troy left the island to attend the University of Oregon before following his long-time girlfriend to Seattle—where he quickly fell in love with everything the PNW has to offer. Having grown up playing multiple sports, he was naturally drawn to CrossFit’s mix of athleticism, variety, and community. The constant challenges, camaraderie, and variety of movements keep him coming back day after day.
By day, Troy is a real estate broker, helping first-time homebuyers navigate the wild world of Seattle real estate. Outside of the gym, you’ll find him snowboarding, stand-up paddling on Alki, cooking up something delicious, or hunting down the best happy hours in town.
Despite being one of the youngest coaches on staff, Troy has an old soul when it comes to music—expect to hear ‘80s classics and ‘90s bangers in his classes. Come for the workout, stay for the good vibes, and get your sweat on with Troy!

I started at CrossFit West Seattle at 15 years old in August 2020 and have been hooked ever since. Before that, I played varsity soccer at West Seattle High School and spent time golfing and playing baseball. While I loved high school sports, I always felt like I lacked the strength and size many of my peers had early on. At the time, traditional gyms felt intimidating—I didn’t know where to start or what to do.
CrossFit changed everything.
What drew me in was the structure, the challenge, and, most of all, the community. I didn’t have to figure it all out on my own—every workout was programmed, movements were coached, and I was surrounded by a supportive community that constantly pushed me to grow.
I earned my CrossFit Level 1 certification to deepen my understanding of the methodology and to help others have the same experience CrossFit has given me. I’m currently a student at the University of Washington, and coaching gives me the perfect balance between academics and something I’m truly passionate about.
